Omaha Zoo
Today we took a trip to the Omaha Zoo. This zoo is so awesome. All the exhibits are so cool! We got to get really close to the animals and they were all really cool. The first exhibit we went to was the jungle exhibit. As soon as I walked in I knew it was going to be a great day. The first thing you notice is the scenery. It’s not a normal zoo where each cage is different. Here there are no cages. The animals are all divided by rocks or water. Just as noticeable is the plant life. All of it except the big trees are real. The zoo was really hands on. They had lots of vines for us to climb on and secret little passage ways. I also saw some beautiful animals. Our favorites were the lowland paca, tapirs, otters, and the bats.
Expectations where high for the Desert exhibit after that. To control the temperature they made a dome over the whole thing. It was very cool and very big. There were birds and little rodents just running around everywhere. We all loved the birds. Vultures, roadrunners, and the blue-bellied rollers were just a few of our favorites. We also all liked this weird looking badger dog thingy.
We then went to the best exhibit of the day. The orangutans and gorillas. I saw an orangutan grab onto a rope and spin it around. He let go and spun in a circle and got very dizzy. When he tried to walk he stumbled over. After that we went over to the gorilla exhibit. There was a cool gorilla sleeping on top of the glass and all the gorillas where really big, but the absolute best animal we saw this trip was his baby gorilla. Just enjoy this.
Afterword we went the Alaska section and got some lunch. We also felt our masks needed an upgrade. It was really hot so we wanted to run though this incredible splash pad. The water was freezing but it felt amazing.
We went to a couple more exhibits but it was really hot so we were running out of energy fast. The last one we did was the aquarium and I’m glad we did. We saw a bunch if really cool fish and a baby penguin. It was a really fun day at the zoo
