White Sands

I’d been looking forward to going to White Sands for a while. It’s the newest national park and the dunes are made of gypsum. Did you know giant sloths used to live there. The sand was cold which was great because it was a million degrees.

After waxing our sleds, we hiked up the dunes to go down. It was was fun but not good enough, so we searched for a larger dune. We found one that was almost straight down. It took us a while to get up but it was worth it. We eventually had to go back to the other because we ran out of water and needed to rewax our sleds. Even though I’ll be picking sand out of my hair for weeks, it was worth sledding down the dunes.
