Kings Canyon

Sadly Sequoia National Park was closed because of fires but Kings Canyon National Park was open. As usual, it was all to ourselves. After setting up camp, we started our first hike. I was blown away by the size of those trees. It just blows my mind that someone thought “Hey, we should cut this tree down and turn it into shingles”! It just makes me angry. They were awesome to climb on though. Look at the picture where we all laid down.

Our last hike was to see General Grants Tree. It was ginormous. I can’t believe a tree got that big. I’m so glad it wasn’t cut down. The hike was longer than we thought and we almost got lost in the dark. It was a great day in the wilderness.
