Gateway Arch
Today we visited St. Louis, Missouri. After a pretty long drive, we finally pulled off onto the exit for St. Louis. As soon as we came around the corner the arch came into view and I was overwhelmed by its size. I expected it to be big, but not that big. It towered over the city. It’s pretty hard to drive an RV in a big city though, so we had to ride our bikes to the arch, which normally wouldn’t be a problem but it was pouring rain. So we unloaded them and started off in the storm.
During the ride we all enjoyed the adventure of biking on the rain, but as soon as we got inside we regretted not calling an Uber. The museum was freezing inside! We trudged over to the desk, grabbed our tickets, and dripped over to the exhibits. The museum was pretty fun though. All of the different sections were interactive and fun. We got to play in things like an old cabin, a canoe and a train.
After long last, and with a lot of luck, we finally got in the pod to go to the top of the arch. The pod was really small and it was tough to get us all inside. It moved pretty fast and it was really fun. Because it’s an arch, it has to tilt back and forth, which is scary. But then we finally made it to the top.
It was cloudy because of the rain but the view was still terrific. You could see for miles and every building in St. Louis. The ride in the rain was definitely worth it.
