Everglades
You can’t visit Florida without visiting the Everglades. A swamp buggy tour was our first stop. We didn’t see much, but I learned a lot. And it was fun to ride in a big vehicle. Speaking of big vehicles, we also went on an airboat. Again, we didn’t see much but it’s always fun to go fast and feel the wind in your hair.
At the airboat place, we had the opportunity to hold a baby gator, so of course, we did. His name is Snappy and I love him. They also had a small cafe that offered lots of weird foods. You’ll never believe me, but I ate and swallowed frog meat. So did Will. It tasted like chicken. I also “enjoyed” gator bites and wild catfish.
We unhitched the bikes to go on a bike trail, and this is where we got our healthy dose of gator-sightings. We saw so many gators. Many of them were really close to the path and we had to drive around them. The most notable was a mama gator that had at least 20 babies.
