San Antonio
Today we got up very early to go tour San Antonio on our bikes. The first stop were the missions. The Spanish explored the area and stayed at these missions. 5 out of 6 missions survived and we biked to the first 3, Espada, San Jose, and San Juan. My favorite was San Jose because it had a bright white church that was really cool. I also rented an electric bike for fun.
Mom was really ambitious thinking we were going to bike 25 miles total and we were all getting tired and hungry, so we ubered to downtown to eat at the greatest restaurant ever, Rainforest Cafe. We all loved it! We also had a dessert volcano. It was two scoops of ice cream topped with a scoop of whipped cream surrounded by four brownie cakes covered in fudge and caramel. It was DELICIOUS. After lunch we walked around downtown. The last mission we went to see was the Alamo. This was definitely the coolest mission. We got the audio tour that taught us a lot of cool facts. And they had historical reenacters that told us cool things too. Ben’s favorite part was meeting the Alamo’s cat. It was pretty cute. Going inside was really cool too. You can just imagine the Americans fighting off the Mexican Army. It was really amazing.
We also took a river boat around the downtown. By the way, downtown San Antonio is really pretty. Lots of big Cyprus trees and old buildings. We loved the ride but we were exhausted and weren’t looking forward to the 7 mile bike ride to the RV. But guess what, the bikes were stolen! Yeah! I know right! They cut the bike lock right off of Mom and Wills bike. Luckily we were right next an electric bike station and we rented some of those. Mom kept her cool really well and we all made it home alive. But the place to return the bikes was full! Mom and I decided not to return them right then because it was dark so the next morning we returned them to the closest station 2 miles away and ran back. But despite that adventure (complete utter disaster) we still had a great day.
