Glacier Day 1

Today we got up bright and early to start off on our bike ride. The smoke wasn’t that bad and we could see pretty well. The trail we were on was really fun. It was nice and paved through the woods and we saw nobody else. We spotted a deer and a very angry squirrel. It was great.

Our first stop was the visitor center. After knocking out our junior ranger we headed off again to find a spot for lunch. After some exploring we found a spot right on the water. The smoke wasn’t as bad as it had been so it was really pretty. The water was so clear. Even far out in the water you could see the ground.

We needed something to do so we asked a ranger for a kid friendly bike trail. She recommended a trail, but said it was about two miles of it was gravel. We decided to give it a shot. The one thing she failed to tell us is that the trail was ENTIRELY UPHILL! Around every corner mom said “It’ll flatten out here” and it never did. It was literally two miles uphill on gravel the entire way. You know it’s a bust when your mom isn’t even trying to convince you it’s fun. We all made it to there top alive but at that point nobody wanted to continue. It took us an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the top but only two to go down. We started biking back to town when we spotted “The Perfect Picture”. You know how when your reading a picture book and there is an illustration of something like a rainbow river with mountains reflecting off the clear as can be water while some ducks swim by a deer drinking by a beaver lodge. Well we saw all of those things. It was so beautiful. I may never see anything like it again.

After we got back to the town we played mini golf and had ice cream. Can’t go wrong there. It was really fun. Then we had some dinner and played at the park. Overall it was a terrific day!
